The Wellington Drama Festival

In November each year the Wellington Theatre Company, located at the Belfrey Theatre, hosts a Drama Festival, for both Adults and Youth, aimed at encouraging Amateur Drama in Shropshire and beyond.

All entries to the Festival will be adjudicated. Companies who are familiar with Festivals will be well aware of the benefits resulting from an assessment by an experienced eye. Youth drama groups, in particular, can gain immeasurably from adjudication.

The compulsory viewing date for the Festival will be decided in due course.  Please ring the Festival Coordinator to make an appointment. You will have the opportunity to view the stage and facilities and to talk with our technical crew about your sound, lighting, staging requirements and access. (Even playing to blacks with one light bulb is needs planning, as also is the necessity to store scenery and props on the night) So please come along so that we can discuss your needs to ensure your entry runs smoothly. It would be helpful if you could have a written plan of any special arrangements you require.

You will need to provide:

1.                   A copy of the script for each play you are entering (NO PHOTOCOPIES PLEASE). These must be sent direct to the Festival Coordinators address.

2.                   A copy of the licence to perform each of the plays you are entering. Failure to provide the licence will mean you will be unable to perform your play.

3.                   Any trophies, which you won in last year’s Festival.

4.                   Entry fees are £ 40 per full length entry and £20 per one act entry and are non-returnable.  Please make cheques payable to The Wellington Theatre Co and enclose with entry forms. A copy of the Festival Rules is available on our website or can be requested on the entry forms. The signed declaration must be sent with the Script

5.                   The Awards Night will take place (date TBA), after the performance of the closing play, and it is a condition of entry that each Company sends one representative. Other supporters will be most welcome but will need to purchase tickets at the Box Office.
