Neville’s Island was superb from start to finish with four excellent actors, Neville played by Rob Fisher, Angus played by John Sugden, Gordon played by Simon Phillips and last but by no means least Roy played by Rich Harris.
The stage was littered with trees, rocks, moss and water both in the small pool and from the actors who came in completely drenched and then proceeded to take off those wet clothes with remarkable decorum and in a relaxed manner which in no way impeded the comedy of the situation.
It was memorable with the sparklers and fire on stage, the lighting and sound effects and the realistic props, but the acting shone through the cold fog and technical aspects to give both humorous and poignant moments, with a shocking but appropriate ending via a bloody but beautiful gyr falcon and a really believable and touching performance by Rich Harris.
This was the adult Belfrey at its best. Well done Brian Hughes (the director) and to all involved.
