Well Done Belfrey Players

Both The Waiting Room by Grant Foxon (an original new play by a former member) and Who Didit, a published Samuel French play,  performed at the Courtyard Theatre, Hereford on Saturday the 17th April 2011 in the Quarter Finals of the All England Theatre Festival.

Well done to Belfrey Players for producing these plays which represented Shropshire on 17th April and many thanks to those who supported and assisted in the transport of the 12 cast and 2 technical crew and the modest set, but extensive array of costumes.

The young people had a good day spent going over lines or just enjoying the sunshine in the park next door.  They did not perform until 5th and 6th on the day, so had some time to build up nerves.

Overall it was  good day and our players pulled their performances together with some very positive comments by the adjudicator at the young talent on stage.

The competition was tough, consisting mainly of seasoned actors and smaller cast plays than The Waiting Room but they held their own and must benefit by performing in such a large theatre with a critical audience. Mattie Richardson felt quite at home as he controlled the techical aspect s for The Waiting Room remenbering his work at The Place some time ago.

At the same time as our Players were on stage in Hereford, Brian Hughes and his cast of adult members were performing the excellent Neville’s Island at the Belfrey.  That must be a first for the theatre company!

Well Done and thank you to everyone.
