  • Neville’s Island was superb from start to finish with four excellent actors, Neville played by Rob Fisher, Angus played by John Sugden, Gordon played by Simon Phillips and last but by no means least Roy played by Rich Harris.  The stage was littered with trees, rocks, moss and water both in the small pool and from the actors who came in completely drenched and then proceeded to take off those wet clothes with remarkable decorum and in a relaxed manner which in no way impeded the comedy of the situation.  It was memorable with the sparklers and fire on stage, the […]

This year for: One-Act Original ‘New’ Plays Between 20 and 55 minutes With two or more actors Any topic, any age (both Youth and Adult Plays) Entry Fee: £10.00 payable to ‘Wellington Theatre Company’ plus £5.00 for printing costs if an emailed copy only is sent. The winning prize = See your play performed by Wellington Theatre Company at The Belfrey Theatre and entered into a Drama Festival. We are currently searching for a canine friend to play Annie’s companion, Sandy in the Musical. If anyone has or knows of someone who has a small to medium sized Sandy colored dog (any breed).   • The building that is now the Belfrey Theatre was originally part of the Prince’s Street Infants School.  Josie Grant, the guiding light of the Wellington Theatre Company (established in 1939), was keen to find a permanent home for the company having produced plays at various venues in and around Wellington, including: The Grammar School, Drill Hall and Charlton Arms Hotel.  After the Prince’s Street School closed, the Belfrey Arts Trust was established and purchased the school buildings from the local Authority for just £1.  Legend has it that the Belfrey name was taken when Jose said of the project “I […]
